Aston Villa boss Unai Emery says he has no interest in treading water.

Emery penned a new deal with Villa this week.

"When I arrived here, I signed for three-years-and-a-half," Emery told beIN Sports Asia. "I have spent one-year-and-a-half here and and in my contract there is a one-year activation for the club. Of course, I agreed.

"This week, the club activated it. I have three years left on my contract here and I want to continue my development as a coach with my coaches and the structure as well.

"Of course, the club gives me a lot of confidence to create a structure with people around me, coaches and workers. Then, with the players we have, they have been demanding.

"They have to deserve to continue being part of our project because their performance and their commitment to wish to play with desires to get something more with us in their career is everything I want.

"I want the players to be demanding themselves to develop and to be always determined to learn and be ambitious, trying to get trophies and a big commitment with Aston Villa. This is my objective with them as well."
