Real Madrid star to be rewarded for fine form with surprise call-up for Euro 2024

A number of Real Madrid players will be taking part in international competitions this summer, with Euro 2024 and the Copa America both taking place. One player who perhaps didn’t expect to be playing is Ferland Mendy, who has not been called up by France in over two years, but it now seems to be that he will be heading to Germany at the end of the season.

Mendy has had a fine season with Los Blancos, establishing himself as the undisputed first-choice. His form to be rewarded with a call-up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad, as reported by Bertrand Latour of La Chaine L’Equipe.

Mendy would likely join Theo Hernandez as the left-back options for Les Bleues, as the usual option Lucas Hernandez is out of Euro 2024 after a recent serious injury.

It’s just reward for Mendy, and the Real Madrid man has a good chance of picking up another winner’s medal in the summer, given that France are one of the favourites to win Euro 2024.
